Sunday in Todi

We all slept late yesterday morning, and had a bit of a lazy morning, then got ready for 11:30 Mass at the Duomo (cathedral).  It didn't actually start until noon, so either they were late or the sign was out of date -- who knows?

It was a fabulous first Mass for us -- it was a special Mass for the youth of the parish, complete with bishop, incense, orchestra, and full choir.  And the lectors and bishop spoke very clearly -- it was possible to pick out a few words here & there!  A bonus:  they had a leaflet which had all the words and prayers printed -- made it much easier to follow along and participate!  The funny part was Communion -- rather than a line, it was more like a crush -- everyone just going up willy nilly and crowding up there.  Those who had received weaved their way back through the crowd.

Spend a lazy day at home -- waiting on my IT expert.  Sigh.  He hasn't shown up, which means I STILL have no printer.

We then went out to dinner at a restaurant -- as opposed to a street pizzeria.  I wanted the kids to experience restaurant pizza, which is a completely different animal.  Each pizza is about 14" across (for one person) and has a completely thin crust -- only the thickness of a cracker, if that.  Jeremy tore into his -- "frutti di mare" (seafood) -- which came without cheese.  It was very sweet to see them ordering in Italian!  They're really handling it well, despite occasional despondency on Jeremy's part. I, on the other hand, had polenta with a sauce of mushrooms and sausage.  Total comfort food, and boy, do I love it!

Love,

Alexandra
