Language lessons

It's so much fun hearing the kids grow in their confidence with Italian.  The younger ones are still having a hard time understanding the language, but they are able to order clearly, without mumbling (from timidity) -- and they are just being loved on by everyone.  It's so nice to be welcomed so warmly!  I can't tell you how many times I hear "complimenti" after being asked if all the kids are mine!

Jeremy has really grown in the last few days, particularly.  His confidence is so much stronger, and I can see him understanding more and more.  Last night, he even worked alone on his recipe for tonight's dinner, in order to get together the shopping list -- and this morning, he reported only having to look up a few items!  It's very exciting.

Eleanor is starting to converse more comfortably, and Florence is really, really trying to get out there and speak to members of our fan club.  And Ashley has been working hard at listening and trying to understand what people are saying.

We're thrilled with our gelateria because the woman there corrects our grammar (nicely) and speaks slowly -- a great (and tasty!) way to work on our language.  The boys are going to Margarita's house tomorrow to play games, and the girls will go see Maddalena.  Meanwhile, I get to see Tatiana about the mold.

Word for today: "grumi" (lumps, as in polenta).

Love,

Alexandra
