Some people pay personal trainers...

...we pay to get into the local bell tower.  We have done over 1100 steps today, and counting!  Admittedly, only 600 or so were used in going to the grocery store and back, so the campanile is not really that tall!

Since we're going out to dinner, I've made some chocolate chip cookies as a hostess gift.  What you don't realize, though, is that I have:
no recipe
no measuring implements
the wrong kind of brown sugar
some kind of odd vanilla
an oven that is measured in centigrade

So, we'll see how they turn out!

The kids have gone to Sta Maria della Consolazione -- a church halfway down the hill -- with Maddalena, her friend Lucrezia, and another friend Laura.  We checked out San Fortunato today, and are totally demoralized to find out that they aren't celebrating Mass in it on a regular basis right now.  So we'll have to walk a whole 5 minutes to get to the Duomo in the Piazza del Popolo.

Sta. Maria della Consolazione
Oh -- and I forgot to mention earlier -- we have bells!  Not too loud, but audible when you're awake and want to enjoy them.  Every hour!  They're marvelous.

Love,

Alexandra

  2. Anna made me march up every step we could find! I'm glad we did the Campanile, and Duomo, what was it 25 years ago?
